Appointments
The practice give our patients the choice of booking their appointment in advance or ‘on the day’ of their choice. We offer a mixture of one the day and pre bookable appointments each day .Patients deeming their condition as a medical emergency will always be seen the same day.
To ensure continuity of care, we ask that you attend the same doctor for problems where possible.
On the Day Appointments
As most appointments are booked up early in the morning, we would advise you to telephone from 8am on the morning of your choice. We have 2 female GPs whose appointments are limited as they work part-time.
Pre-Bookable Appointments
For patients who would like to book in advance or who have to return for review to the doctor, there are appointments bookable up to 3 weeks in advance.
Emergency Appointments
The practice provides ‘extra’ appointments each morning and afternoon and these are for patients who feel they cannot wait until the following day for an appointment. Please do not abuse the use of these appointments as they are meant for genuine medical emergencies
You are not able to choose the doctor you see at an emergency appointment and will be allocated one by the receptionist
Medical Triage
If all On The Day Appointments are filled you may be offered a medical triage appointment with a GP. The Receptionist will ask for a brief explanation of your symptoms and confirm the telephone number on which to contact you.
A GP will call you back normally within 3 hours, so please be able to answer the phone. It maybe possible to deal with your issue over the phone or attentively the GP may ask you to attend the Surgery.
Telephone Availability
If a patient calls and requests to speak to a GP or nurse, the reception staff will check the availability of the GP. If the GP is available to speak to the patient at a designated time, she will then take some information and request that the patient calls back at the time stated. Alternatively the receptionist will take the patients details and inform them that the GP will phone them back.
Please advise staff if your call is URGENT. They will take your details and you will be called back as soon as it is appropriate.
Practice Nurses
In a number of cases it might be worth considering an appointment with a practice nurse rather than a doctor. Practice nurses are qualified to deal with many ailments and you may be seen more quickly. The practice nurses are available from 08:30 - 16:30 Monday to Friday.
Cancellations
If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else.
